KID Museum’s FutureFest is coming on September 15!

In partnership with Montgomery County and Fund for Montgomery, KID Museum is proud to present a dynamic celebration of innovation, world cultures, and the power of our community to build a better future.

Kids and adults alike will enjoy a variety of interactive exhibits, demos, and live performances throughout this all-day, free family event in downtown Silver Spring.

At KID Museum’s KID City, visitors can combine maker skills with art and design to build a large-scale, collaborative “city,” using wood, textiles, electronics, robots, code, and 3D-printed objects. Kids and families will create designs for a spinning garden of lights in a mirrored infinity room, “grow” a forest of textile trees, and learn to use a drill in the “wood warren” to construct an unconventional wooden house.

Attendees will also explore the cultures of China, Ethiopia, India, Korea, and El Salvador through music, dance, and hands-on activities that span from age-old traditions to modern innovations.

Finally, visitors can participate in interactive exhibits presented by makers, inventors, and innovators:

  • Discover new developments in game design, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and 3D printing.
  • Glimpse the future of biotech, and the latest in wearable technology.
  • Explore transportation of the future (and now!) through electric vehicles, self-driving cars, hyperfast trains, and drone deliveries.

KID Museum’s FutureFest combines two popular family festivals, KIDfest and World of Montgomery, to showcase the cutting-edge ideas that are transforming our world and the global ties that bring us together. We hope to see you there this September.
